| A-1 Sailboats was founded in June of 1972 when Cap't Jim decided to follow
his heart and abandon a promising career as a federal employee for the risks and rewards
of self-employment. Thirty-three years, 2900 boats, 2 children, and 1 dog later
he is
still at it. The first seven years as "Brandywine Trail and Sail", at the
intersection of Rt. 5 and 301, in Brandywine, MD; and since then as A-1 Sailboats
in Mayo, MD.
Along the way A-1 has been a dealership for Sunfish,
Laser, Snark, Seafarer, Newport, Windjammer, Windrose, American Fiberglass, Continental
and Galaxy powerboats, John Dory, Lancer, Almand 31, Cabo Rico 38, Hunter, and MacGregor
to name a few. Many of these manufacturers foundered on the shoals of the recession in
'81-'82. Others faded along with the waning popularity of older designs. Only MacGregor
Yachts has stayed the course, and from 1975 to present A-1 Sailboats has sold over
900 new
and used Macgregor sailboats. Come on down and see Cap't Jim to find out why your next
boat should be a Macgregor 26. |

PIRATE CAPTAIN JIM
"Walk the plank," says Pirate Jim.
"But Captain Jim, I cannot swim."
"Then you must steer us through the gale."
"But Captain Jim, I cannot sail."
"Then down with the galley slaves you go."
"But Captain Jim, I cannot row."
"Then you must be the pirate's clerk."
"But Captain Jim, I cannot work."
"Then a pirate captain you must be."
"Thank you, Jim," says Captain Me.*
